Common Foot Injuries in Baton Rouge

Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar Fasciitis is a tendinitis that occurs from a combination of overuse, muscle tightness and insufficient arch support. 90-95% of all plantar fasciitis can be treated without surgery.
Stress Fractures
Stress Fractures are the opposite of a traditional fracture or broken bone. The traditional fracture or break happens after an abrupt injury, fall or twist. A stress fracture is a gradual weakening of a bone due to overuse. This usually resolves with rest and immobilization.
Achilles Tendinitis
Achilles Tendinitis also typically happens with overuse. This can be chronic, longstanding overuse or a sudden increase in physical activity. The Achilles tendon is like a rope that attaches to the back of the heel. The Achilles tendon is under significant stress and tension during physical activities. Arch support and stretching help prevent this tendinitis.
Morton's Neuroma
Morton's Neuroma is a pinched or swollen nerve. It most commonly affects the third and fourth toes. A Morton's neuroma causes burning, numbness and achiness between the affected toes. Patients often say that it feels like their sock is "bunched" or they have something stuck in their shoe. Pad and cushions as well as appropriately fitting shoes help to resolve neuromas.
